(Washington DC) — The United States Senate has passed a bill that, if signed into law, will protect same-sex marriage across the nation. The bill passed by a vote of 61 to 36, including support from Utah Senator Mitt Romney. He was one of 12 Republicans who supported the measure. Senator Mike Lee had proposed changes to the bill, but it passed without them. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives.
