Utah Tech Football Standouts Sweep WAC Player of the Week Honors

DENVER-Monday, three Utah Tech football standouts swept the WAC player of the week honors after the Trailblazers’ 48-36 win over Southern Utah last Saturday at Greater Zion Stadium in St. George.

Junior receiver Rickie Johnson was named the conference’s offensive player of the week by hauling in a career-high 9 passes for a school-record 277 yards and three scores, which tied a school record.

Johnson’s 277 receiving yards are the second-best in NCAA Division I football this season for a single game.

Sophomore defensive lineman Syrus Webster posted a career-high three sacks and four net tackles to earn conference defensive player of the week honors.

Finally, sophomore placekicker Connor Brooksby made both of his field goal attempts and all six of his PAT attempts in victory for the Trailblazers to earn WAC special teams player of the week accolades.

The Trailblazers celebrate Senior Day Saturday by hosting Tarleton State at 1:00 pm at Greater Zion Stadium.
