SALT LAKE CITY-Rollie Worster’s 13 points and 7 rebounds on 6-10 from the field led the Utah Utes to a 93-58 win over Westminster in an exhibition Wednesday at the Huntsman Center.
Worster keyed a balanced scoring attack for the Utes, who had four players score in double figures in the rout.
Lewis Johnson and Jeremy DowDell had 16 points apiece in defeat for the NCAA Division II Griffins who are separated geographically from the Utes by only 2.1 miles on 1300 East on the bench in Salt Lake City.
The Utes commence the regular season Monday by hosting the Long Island Sharks at the Huntsman Center for a 7:00 pm tipoff.
PROVO, Utah-Spencer Johnson posted 16 points on 6-9 from the field and 3-4 behind the arc as the BYU Cougars decimated NAIA foe Ottawa (Ariz.) 109-69 Wednesday at the Marriott Center in exhibition play.
The Cougars shot a torrid 59 percent (44-75) for the game. Alex Villi had 12 points in the loss for the Spirit.
BYU begins the regular season Monday by hosting the Idaho State Bengals of the Big Sky Conference.
OGDEN, Utah-Dillon Jones netted 20 points and 7 assists and the Weber State Wildcats smacked Adams State 88-76 at the Dee Events Center Wednesday in exhibition play. Zahir Porter added 17 points and 4 rebounds for Weber State in the win.
Kolby Walker’s 18 points and 5 rebounds led the NCAA Division II Grizzlies of Alamosa, Colo. in the loss.
Weber State gains a significant upgrade in competition Monday as they visit the Washington Huskies of the Pac-12 at Seattle for a 9:00 pm MST tipoff.
