CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Thursday, the Carolina Panthers signed former Manti High School/Snow College and Utah State star Derek Wright to the practice squad after he successfully passed waivers.
Wright was among the Panthers’ final cuts Tuesday as NFL rosters were pared down to 53 players leaguewide.
Wright, who has been a receiver since his collegiate days at Snow, posted two receptions for 38 yards in the preseason for Carolina, including a 32-yard reception in a 20-10 loss to New England August 19.
The 6’1″ 195-pound Wright is joined on the Panthers’ practice squad by
safety Juston Burris
safety Kenny Robinson
cornerback Madre Harper
defensive end Austin Larkin
center Sam Tecklenburg
tight end Colin Thompson
tight end Josh Babicz
offensive lineman Deonte Brown
cornerback Tae Hayes
receiver Ra’Shaun Henry
defensive end Drew Jordan
tailback John Lovett

The Panthers can still fill two more practice squad spots if they so choose.
Carolina commences the regular season September 12 by hosting the Cleveland Browns.
