Utah Democrats Plan Gun Control Bills Following Texas Shooting

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Democrats are planning to introduce several gun control measures in the state legislature, though they admit the bills probably won’t be supported by Republican lawmakers. House Minority Leader Brian King says he plans to introduce several bills following a mass shooting that killed 19 students and two adults at an elementary school in Texas. King says he wants to limit the capacity of gun magazines, increase insurance requirements for gun owners and collect data on previous offenders who use guns when committing a crime. Democratic State Senator Derek Kitchen proposed raising the age limit to buy guns in Utah earlier this week.
