(Salt Lake City, UT) — Senator Mike Lee says he has never been prouder to be a former clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel Alito. In an op-ed published yesterday in the Deseret News, the Utah Republican says he read Alito’s leaked draft opinion in a case that could overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. He called the opinion a “masterwork,” saying Alito clearly explains why the decision to legalize abortion violates the U.S. Constitution. He also called the leak of the draft opinion a threat to the trust that Supreme Court justices share with each other and the clerks that work for them.
