Utah House Gives Final Approval To Suspend Test To Stay Program

(Salt Lake City, UT) – Legislation that would suspend the Test-to-Stay COVID-19 program at Utah schools is on the desk of Governor Spencer Cox. Republican House lawmakers gave final approval for HB 183 along party lines. Under the changes, schools can only move to remote learning after appealing to their district board, and then receiving approval from Governor Spencer Cox, legislative leaders and the state schools superintendent. The Utah Education Association lambasted the decision, saying state leaders are taking away tools schools use to protect students and teachers alike.
