(Orem, UT) — A person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Orem. Authorities say the incident occurred Sunday night near Westmore Elementary School. According to reports, a 41-year-old man attacked his 68-year-old father with a knife and fled the scene. Police said they attempted to take the suspect into custody but he did not comply, then charged at the officers with a knife and a bat. Shots were fired from the deputies and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The father of the suspect was taken to the hospital where his condition is unknown. The Utah County Officer-Involved Critical Incident Team is investigating the shooting.
