Late in the evening on Oct. 16 Park Service Rangers at Zion National park encountered a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled Eastbound out of the park.
During the chase an officer was forced off the road when the suspect crossed over, head on into his lane. The driver continued southbound through Kanab driving into Arizona. Speeds were in excess of 105 MPH and the suspect was swerving into oncoming traffic.
A National Park Service Ranger stationed at Lee’s Ferry was able to spike the suspects tires bringing the vehicle to a stop. The suspect, 62 year old David Frank Magriplis from Sandy, was taken into custody without incident.
