Aaron Lowe Named Recipient of Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship

SALT LAKE CITY-Late Tuesday, Utah football head coach Kyle Whittingham announced sophomore cornerback Aaron Lowe as the recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship was established when after Jordan, a former student-athlete at the UofU, lost his life December 25, 2020.

This was less than a week after Jordan, a rising star tailback, completed a highly successful freshman campaign for the Utes.

In an abbreviated 2020 season, Jordan ran for 597 yards and amassed 723 scrimmage yards, in only 5 games. He also posted six rushing scores.

The program’s Leadership Council nominated a select group of student-athletes for this prestigious honor with the entire team voting.

The honor was bestowed upon Lowe, a native of Mesquite, Texas, who was Jordan’s high school teammate at West Mesquite High School. Lowe switched his number from No. 2 to No. 22 to honor Jordan’s legacy.

Jordan wore No. 22 for the Utes last season.

Lowe first came to Utah in 2019 and is presently in his sophomore season.

He has primarily played for the Utes on special teams and will perhaps get more time at cornerback this season.

Utah’s full-season fall campaign commences Thursday evening as the Utes host nearby Weber State at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
