OGDEN, Utah-Wednesday, Weber State junior tailback Josh Davis was named to the watch list for the Walter Payton Award.
This award annually honors the most outstanding offensive player in NCAA FCS college football.
Payton, a former legendary Pro Football Hall of Fame tailback with the Chicago Bears starred at Jackson State from 1971-1974.
Davis, a former Alta High School star, is a two-time All-American and a three-time All-Big Sky Conference first team performer.
He won the Jerry Rice Award in 2018 as the NCAA FCS National Freshman of the Year.
Davis has 2,884 career rushing yards for the Wildcats and 21 rushing scores. His 2,884 yards rank him fourth in school history.
Davis has amassed 3,711 all-purpose yards at Weber State, ranking him eighth in school annals.
Weber State football also commenced fall practices Wednesday.
These practices are presently closed to the public.
The Wildcats commence their season September 2 at Utah.
