Early in the morning of Apr. 26, Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a hiker that had fallen and hit his head. Jeffrey Bowden, age 55 from Cedar City, was hiking with a friend in an area known as Fat Man’s Misery located east of Zion National Park, when he fell about 20 feet and hit his head.

His friend attended to him before she began the long process of hiking out to contact help. Search and rescue crews responded and located Bowden, who had passed away and recovered his body.
