USU Men’s Basketball Seeks 300th Win As Mountain West School Against San Jose State

LOGAN, Utah-Wednesday, Utah State men’s basketball faces San Jose State at the Event Center of San Jose, Calif. in hopes of securing their 300th all-time win as a Mountain West Conference school.

The 12-5 Aggies are 2-2 in conference play and are coming off a 71-55 win at Wyoming last Saturday.

The Aggies come into this game, outscoring opponents per game 78.5-65.3.

Junior guard Sam Merrill remains one of the nation’s best shooters as he scores 19.3 points per game, shoots 49.8 percent from the field and 90.3 percent (84-93) at the foul line.

The Spartans come into this game with a 3-12 record and an 0-3 mark in conference play.

San Jose State scores 67 points per game but surrenders 77.4 points per contest.

Junior forward Michael Steadman is the Spartans’ statistical leader as he posts 12.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

The Aggies have traditionally dominated San Jose State as they lead the series 60-22.

All told, Utah State has beaten the Spartans 21 of the last 22 times the two squads have played.

The Aggies lead the series at San Jose 20-14 and have won nine of their last 10 games there.
