ARLINGTON, Texas-Utah Valley men’s basketball sophomore forward Carter Welling has been named the WAC men’s basketball player/newcomer of the week.

Welling averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4 blocks, a steal and an assist in victories over Idaho State and Weber State for the Wolverines this past week.

On the season, Welling, a former Corner Canyon High School star out of Draper, Utah, is averaging 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Welling, a transfer from UC Irvine, and his teammates, return to action December 28 at the UCCU Center against Bethesda of Anaheim, Calif.

The Wolverines are 7-6 on the season.
