SALT LAKE CITY-Per news released late Tuesday, University of Utah men’s basketball head coach Craig Smith announced the addition of Matt Lopez to his staff.

Lopez will serve as the Runnin’ Utes’ director of scouting and video operations.

Lopez comes to the UofU from Arkansas where he served as the Razorbacks’ special assistant to head coach Eric Musselman.

Lopez’s responsibilities under Musselman included the gathering and dissemination of analytics, preparation of film for advanced scouting and serving as the liaison for the program.

Lopez has also served in various capacities at South Dakota, Grand Canyon and Glendale CC (Ariz.)

Lopez is a 2018 graduate of Grand Canyon earning a bachelor’s degree in 2018 and a Master’s in 2021 from the university.
