Utah Football Has Productive Tuesday

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, University of Utah football had an effective Tuesday with a pair of national honors awarded to two Utes standouts.

Junior defensive end Jonah Elliss was named the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the week for his performance in Utah’s 14-7 win over UCLA last Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Ellis recorded 3.5 sacks and 5 tackles for a loss in the win over the Bruins.

Additionally, sophomore punter Jack Bouwmeester was named as one of Ray’s 8 by the Augusta Sports Council and Ray Guy Award.

Bouwmeester averaged 44 yards per punt in the win over UCLA.

Elliss, Bouwmeester and their Utes teammates return to action Friday at Corvallis, Ore. against Oregon State.
