LOGAN, Utah-Monday, Utah State University director of athletics/vice president John Hartwell announced Ryan Odom as the new head men’s basketball coach for the Aggies.
Odom is 105-71 (.597) as a head coach at Charlotte (2014-15) and Maryland-Baltimore County (2016-21).
Odom achieved more success with the Retrievers, leading UMBC to a 97-60 (.573) record. The son of Dave Odom, who coached at East Carolina, Wake Forest and South Carolina, Ryan Odom led the Retrievers to a historical upset of Virginia in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.
This represented the first time in NCAA Tournament history that a No. 16 seed defeated a No. 1 seed.
Ryan Odom has also served as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech (2004-2010), American University (2001-2003), UNC-Asheville (1999-2000) and Furman (1997-1999).
Ryan Odom is a 1996 graduate of NCAA Division III Hampden-Sydney, serving as a four-year starting point guard on the Tigers’ men’s basketball team.
