LOGAN, Utah-Utah State senior wide receiver Deven Thompkins was named the College Sports Madness Mountain West Conference player of the week Monday as USU defeated their fellow Aggies, New Mexico State, 35-13.
Thompkins netted nine receptions for 215 yards and two scoring receptions in the Aggies’ victory at Las Cruces, N.M.
This tied Thompkins for James Murphy for the ninth-most receiving yards in a single game in school history.
This was Thompkins’ fifth-consecutive 100-yard receiving game and his seventh of the season.
Thompkins leads the nation with 1,314 receiving yards. He also leads the nation with 134 receiving yards per game. His 71 receptions rank fifth nationally.
Saturday, the Aggies return to Mountain West Conference play by hosting the San Jose Spartans for an 8:30 pm kickoff.
