Two Utah College Football Players Named As Nominees For Burlsworth Trophy

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-Tuesday, Utah State senior defensive end Nick Heninger and Utah freshman linebacker Karene Reid were nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy Tuesday.

This award is annually bestowed upon the most outstanding player in FBS college football to begin a career as a walk-on and show outstanding performance on the field.

Each nominee must have begun his first season of participation with an FBS football program without financial aid of any kind from his university’s athletic department.

Heninger has posted three sacks, two forced fumbles, three passes defensed and 8 tackles for a loss this season for the 6-2 (4-1 in Mountain West play) Aggies. Reid

Reid has 40 net tackles, a sack, an interception and a defensed pass for the 5-3 (4-1 in Pac-12 play) Utes.

The Burlsworth trophy will be awarded December 6 during a ceremony at Bentonville, Ark.
