The Rams Sign Eric Weddle Out of Retirement

LOS ANGELES-Wednesday morning, ahead of their Monday Night playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams signed retired NFL safety, and former University of Utah star, Eric Weddle, out of retirement.

Weddle, who turned 37 earlier this month, most recently played for the Rams in 2019.

The six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection has netted 1,179 total tackles (903 solo stops), 9.5 sacks, 29 interceptions, 8 forced fumbles, 38 tackles for a loss and 23 quarterback hits in his career.

By virtue of his accomplishments, The Pro Football Hall of Fame placed him on their all-2010’s team.

Weddle has previously played for the San Diego Chargers (2007-2015) and Baltimore Ravens (2016-2018) in addition to the Rams.

Weddle, a consensus All-American and All-Mountain West Conference 1st team performer in 2006 for the Utes, netted 18 interceptions, 5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for a loss at Utah from 2003-2006.

He was drafted No. 37 overall in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Chargers in 2007.
