SUU/Weber State Football Student-Athletes Appear on STATS FCS All-American Team

CHICAGO-Numerous Southern Utah University and Weber State football student-athletes received STATS FCS All-American honors Monday.

Appearing on the first team offense was Weber State senior offensive lineman Ty Whitworth, a 6-4 300-pound senior.

Weber State also placed senior linebacker Connor Mortensen on the first-team defense. Mortensen posted 52 tackles (37 solo stops), one sack, one intercepton and 11.5 tackles for a loss for the Wildcats.

Southern Utah also had a first-team defense representative in redshirt junior linebacker La’akea Kaho’ohanohano Davis. He led the Thunderbirds with 7 sacks, two forced fumbles, nine tackles for a loss and 57 total tackles (39 solo stops).

Weber State also placed senior receiver Rashid Shaheed on the 2nd team as a kick returner. Shaheed scored 24 points for the Wildcats on the season by returning one kick for a score and adding 21 grabs for 295 yards and three more touchdowns.
