CEDAR CITY, Utah-Monday, Southern Utah University announced the hiring of Christopher “Critter” Phillips as the institution’s Associate Athletic Director for Events and Facilities Operations.

Phillips is a 2022 graduate of SUU and previously served as the Assistant Director of Operations and Special Projects at the University of Kentucky’s athletics department at Lexington, Ky.

In this role, he oversaw day-to-day operations of at the Memorial Coliseum, the Wildcats’ men’s and women’s basketball/volleyball/gymnastics and stunts program’s arena and the Joe Craft Center, where the Wildcats’ men’s and women’s basketball teams practice.

While at UK, Phillips played a key role in event operations for all of the Kentucky athletic programs competing at the Memorial Coliseum.

Phillips and his wife, Kate Bryant Phillips, also an SUU graduate, have two daughters while a new baby son is expected in October 2025.
