SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, University of Utah defensive tackles coach Sione Po’uha announced his retirement from coaching after spending the last three seasons with the Utes.
Pou’ha was an All-Mountain West Conference selection as a defensive tackle with the Utes in 2004 and was drafted in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Jets with the No. 88 overall selection.
Pou’ha played with the Jets through the 2012 season, posting 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and 11 passes defensed during his career.
During his time as the Utes’ defensive tackles coach, Pou’ha developed star defensive linemen Leki Fotu, John Penisini and Junior Tafuna, among others.
Pou’ha also served as the defensive tackles coach at Navy in 2018.
