SALT LAKE CITY-Bryce Johnson drove in a pair of runs and the Sacramento River Cats downed Salt Lake 9-2 Sunday at Smith’s Ballpark in Pacific Coast League play.
Luis Ortiz earned the win on the mound for the River Cats by netting a strikeout in 1.1 innings of play. Ortiz is 2-3 on the season for Sacramento with the win.
In defeat, Jake Gatewood posted the 22nd all-time inside-the-park home run in Salt Lake franchise history while also contributing a sacrifice fly RBI for the Bees.
With the loss, the Bees suffered their first series loss since July 4-10 when Sacramento vanquished them in another series.
Salt Lake fell to 53-58 in defeat while the River Cats improved to 48-63.
The Bees return to action Tuesday at Reno for a 7:35 pm MDT opening pitch from Greater Nevada Field against the Aces.
