Richfield’s Girls Wins Gardner Invitational

CASTLE DALE, Utah-Richfield’s Melissa Crane swept the 100 (16.58 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (48.38 seconds) titles, leading the Wildcats’ girls to the team title Tuesday at the Gardner Invitational hosted by Emery High School.

The Wildcats posted 238 points, easily blowing away second-place host Emery with 84 points. South Sevier checked in at third with 48 points and Wayne was fourth with 43 points.

For the boys, Emery took the title with 196.5 points. Richfield placed second with 110 points and South Sevier was third with 64.5 points. Wayne finished fourth with 52 points.

In the girls’ 3200-meter run, Wayne’s Kenna Stephenson finished second with Karlee Thomas of Richfield finishing third and South Sevier’s Rayvan Boone placing fourth.

Richfield’s Passion Reitz swept the 200 (28.70 seconds) and 100 (13.37 seconds) dash titles. In the 1600-meter run, Richfield’s Jamie Holt took the crown in a time of 6:16.30. Her teammates, Avery Foster, Kate Robinson and Nora Foster placed second, third and fifth, respectively. Nora Foster also won the girls’ 800-meter title in a time of 2:51.93. Avery Foster and Kate Robinson finished second and third, respectively, bolstering the Wildcats’ solid day. Elena Torgersen of Richfield checked in at fifth place in the 800.

Wayne’s girls won the 4 x 100 relay title in a time of 56.54 seconds. This team consists of Brynnli Nelson, Hali Peterson, Willow Lawton and Hanna Williams.

The Richfield girls also won the medley (4:59.56) and 4 x 400 relay (5:01.00) crowns.

For the boys, Richfield’s Tyler Johnson won the 3200-meter run title in a time of 11:05.63. His teammate, Nick Woolsey, placed second while Wayne’s West Saunders and Miles Guerrero placed third and fourth, respectively.

In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, South Sevier’s Talmage Smith placed fifth. In the boys’ 100-meter dash, Connor Peterson of South Sevier placed second with Wayne’s Bryant Pace finishing third.

In the 400-meter dash for the boys, Richfield’s Kade Jensen won the title in a time of 51.92 seconds. Will Smith of Richfield placed third and Bryant Pace of Wayne finished fourth.

Richfield’s Hayden Harward swept the 1600 (4:50.40) and 800 (2:03.43) titles.

In the 200-meter dash for the boys, Richfield’s Will Smith placed third with his teammates, Gage Morrison and Carston Jensen, finishing fifth and sixth respectively.

Finally, the Richfield boys won the 4 x 400 meter title in a time of 3:58.39. This team consists of Hayden Harward, Nick Woolsey, Tyler Johnson and Will Smith.
