3A First Round Playoffs
MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Ridge Hendry posted 19 points and 9 rebounds and the No. 16 North Sanpete Hawks overpowered No. 17 Summit Academy 58-46 Wednesday in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. Nixon Savage’s game-high 26 points on 9-17 from the field led the Bears in defeat. North Sanpete next visits No. 1 Morgan Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
OGDEN, Utah-Jaerdan Van Beekum netted 23 points and 6 rebounds and the No. 15 Ben Lomond Scots waxed No. 18 Providence Hall 64-34 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Wednesday. McKai Turner led the Patriots with 23 points in the loss.
2A First Round Playoffs
ENTERPRISE, Utah-Treyson Whitman stepped up with 14 points and the No. 6 Enterprise Wolves pounded No. 27 Utah Military Camp Williams 67-14 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. Braden Walz led the Marauders in the loss with 4 points. Enterprise next hosts No. 11 Rockwell Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
BEAVER, Utah-Deegan Blackner posted 17 points and 6 rebounds and the No. 14 Beaver Beavers humbled No. 19 Maeser Prep 52-36 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Wednesday. The Beavers next visit No. 3 North Summit in the second round of the state playoffs Saturday at 1:00 pm.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah-The No. 9 APA West Valley Eagles soared past No. 24 Water Canyon 67-48 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. The Eagles next visit No. 8 Merit Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah-Cesare Baiardi stepped up with 23 points and the No. 11 Rockwell Marshals pounded No. 22 Utah Military Hill Field 78-45 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Wednesday. Pupataia Owda led the Thunderbirds in the loss with 10 points.
DRAPER, Utah-Urban Baldwin netted 15 points and No. 7 Draper APA pummeled No. 26 Freedom Prep 79-12 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. Wyatt Leigh’s 8 points led the Freedom Prep Eagles in the loss. Draper APA next hosts No. 10 San Juan Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
BLANDING, Utah-Tripp Palmer posted 17 points and the No. 10 San Juan Broncos routed No. 23 St. Joseph 68-43 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state tournament. Gavin Donovan led the Jayhawks in defeat with 16 points.
SALINA, Utah-Brody Bulloch recorded 28 points and the No. 12 North Sevier Wolves smacked No. 21 Millard 74-57 in the first round of the 2A state tournament Wednesday. Noah Rowell led the Eagles in the loss with 14 points. The Wolves next face No. 5 Rowland Hall Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
MOAB, Utah-JT Dowd netted 22 points and the No. 16 Grand Red Devils outlasted No. 17 Gunnison Valley 87-84 in double overtime Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state tournament. Landry Edwards led the Bulldogs in the loss with 21 points. The Red Devils next visit No. 1 Kanab Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
SANDY, Utah-John Smith led the way with 22 points and 9 rebounds and the No. 13 Waterford Ravens pounded No. 20 Intermountain Christian 68-31 in the first round of the 2A state tournament Wednesday. Waterford next visits No. 4 American Leadership Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
PAROWAN, Utah-Tate Stubbs recorded 22 points and the No. 15 Parowan Rams stymied No. 18 Duchesne 55-47 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state tournament. Tanner Stansfield’s game-high 24 points led the Eagles in the loss. Parowan next visits No. 2 South Sevier in the battle of the Rams Saturday at 1:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
SPRINGVILLE, Utah-The No. 8 Merit Knights pounded No. 25 Salt Lake Academy 70-31 Wednesday in the first round of the 2A state tournament.
Region 20 TournamentÂ
MILFORD, Utah-Sadler Barnes netted 25 points, 8 steals and 7 assists and the No. 2 Milford Tigers routed No. 7 Escalante 61-40 in the first round of the Region 20 Tournament Wednesday. Mac Porter’s 18 points led the Moquis in the loss. No. 2 Milford next faces No. 3 Piute Friday at 4:00 pm at Panguitch High School. Escalante faces No. 6 Bryce Valley Friday at 10:00 am in the consolation bracket.
JUNCTION, Utah-Will Myers posted 26 points and the No. 3 Piute Thunderbirds waxed No. 6 Bryce Valley 55-46 Wednesday in the first round of the Region 20 Tournament. Luke Andrus led the Mustangs in the loss with 18 points.
