1-A Semifinals @ Southern Utah University

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Branon Torgerson returned a fumble 42 yards for a touchdown and Garrett Fabrizio returned the 2nd half’s opening kickoff 87 yards for another score as the No. 1 seed Duchesne Eagles bested No. 4 seed Milford 32-18 Friday in the 1-A state football semifinals at Eccles Coliseum.

Fabrizio added a 7-yard scoring reception for the Eagles and Parker Crum threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Draker Goodliffe for Duchesne as the top-seeded Eagles improved to 10-1 on the season.

Blake Barnes (28 car, 179 yards, 2 rush TD’s) led Milford in the loss and Dylan Ferguson added a 31-yard field goal for the Tigers. Milford’s season ends with a record of 7-5.

Duchesne advances to play in the 1-A state title game against Layton Christian Saturday November 13 at 11:00 am at Stewart Stadium on the campus of Weber State University in Ogden.

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Malik Johnson caught a 60-yard scoring pass from Zoram Petelo and the No. 6 Layton Christian Eagles upset No. 2 Kanab 14-13 Friday in the 1-A state football semifinals at Eccles Coliseum. Kason Janes recovered a fumble in the end zone and Parker Frankin had a 2-yard touchdown run in defeat for the Cowboys. Kanab’s season ends at 9-3 while Layton Christian improves to 9-4.
