3A State Championship
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Reggie Hafen (24 of 39, 404 yards, 3 TD’s) threw a 72-yard touchdown pass to Gage Yardley (7 rec, 228 yards, TD) with 57 seconds left and the No. 1 Richfield Wildcats surged past No. 2 Manti 27-21 Saturday evening at Eccles Coliseum to win their first state championship in football since 1984 and second-all time by capturing the 3A state title.
Hafen also ran for a score while Cort Moon and Kai Thomas added touchdown receptions for the Wildcats, who end the season 13-0.
Maison Starkweather (24 of 41, 258 yards, 3 TD’s/INT), Stone Mortensen (2 TD rec’s) and Reggie Frischknecht (12 rec, 135 yards) led the Templars in the loss. Hunter Stevens also added a touchdown reception in the loss for Manti.
2A State Championship
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Zack Conway ran for 170 yards and three scores and the No. 1 San Juan Broncos overpowered the No. 2 South Summit Wildcats 43-28 to win their third consecutive state championship in winning the 2A state title Saturday night at Eccles Coliseum. Parker Snyder completed 21 of 31 passes for 209 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the win for San Juan. Bracken Lassche completed 27 of 40 passes for 268 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in defeat for the Wildcats. San Juan has now won nine state championships all-time in school history. The Broncos have won state titles in 1989, 1998, 2000, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
1A State Championship
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Tavyn Hollingshead posted 135 scrimmage yards and four total touchdowns and the No. 1 Beaver Beavers dismantled No. 3 Enterprise 28-6 Saturday at Eccles Coliseum to secure the 1A state championship. Kutlur Matheson added a scoring reception and Bodie Wheatley had a pair of touchdown passes in victory for the Beavers. Ryker Phillips had a 6-yard touchdown run in the loss for the Wolves. Beaver has now won 14 all-time state championships in football. The Beavers have state titles in 1970, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1983, 1990, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020.
8-Player State Championship
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Carter Hoffman completed 6 of 10 passes for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns and the No. 1 Rich Rebels overpowered No. 2 Monticello 35-20 to win the 8-player state championship Saturday at Eccles Coliseum. Hoffman added 106 rushing yards and a pair of scores for the Rebels while Jaden Desch (5 rec, 155 yards, 2 TD’s) served as Rich’s leading receiver.
Robert Morrison ran for 74 yards and a pair of scores in the loss for the Buckaroos.
This was Rich’s 7th all-time state title in football. The Rebels have won state titles in 1994, 1995, 1996, 2002, 2009, 2014 and 2023.
