Former USU Football Player Spain Musgrove Dead At 76

LOGAN, Utah-Per news released Tuesday, former Utah State defensive lineman Spain Musgrove passed away at the age of 76.

Musgrove played for the Aggies in the 1965 and 1966 seasons, earning honorable All-American mention from The Sporting News following his senior campaign in 1966.

Musgrove came to Utah State from Bakersfield College (Calif.) where he was a junior college All-American.

He is a cousin of former Aggies All-American men’s basketball player Cornell Green.

Musgrove was selected in the second round of the 1967 NFL Draft (No. 38 overall) by the Washington Redskins, playing for the squad from 1967-1969.

He was claimed off of waivers by the Houston Oilers in 1970, for whom he played his final season.

During his NFL career, he posted 2.5 sacks.

Musgrove was born July 30, 1945 at Kansas City, Mo.
