Former Gunnison Valley High School Multi-Sport Star Janzen Keisel Drafted By Tampa Bay Rays Monday

TAMPA, Fla.-Monday, former Gunnison Valley High School multi-sport star Janzen Keisel was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 6th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Oklahoma State at No. 248 overall.

Keisel, a 6-4 208-pound pitcher, recorded a record of 2-1 this past season for the Cowboys, who went 42-19 and 19-9 in Big 12 play.

Keisel recorded 40 strikeouts in 34.2 innings of work for Oklahoma State.

Keisel has also spent time at BYU as a collegian. In his freshman season, 2022, Keisel netted a 4.27 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 46 1/3 innings for the Cougars.

At Gunnison Valley High School, Keisel competed in baseball, basketball and cross country for the Bulldogs, becoming a two-time all 2A state performer in baseball.
