DENVER-Monday, Dixie State men’s basketball freshman guard Noa Gonsalves was named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week.
The 6-1 170-pound Gonsalves, a former Lehi High School star, averaged 10 points on 61.5 percent shooting from the field in the Trailblazers’ wins over SAGU American Indian College and at North Dakota.
Gonsalves scored a career-high 12 points on 5-7 from the field (2-3 from range) in Saturday’s 78-69 win at North Dakota. The win against the Fighting Hawks was Dixie State head coach Jon Judkin’s 300th victory at the helm of the program.
Gonsalves is presently averaging 5.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the 7-5 Trailblazers.
Dixie State returns to action Wednesday at the America First Event Center to face future WAC foe Southern Utah in Cedar City.
