ST. GEORGE, Utah-Friday, Dixie State head football coach Paul Petersen announced the hiring of Craig Stutzmann as the Trailblazers’ new offensive coordinator.
Stutzmann, who has spent the past two seasons at Washington State as the Cougars’ co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, helped the squad achieve the Pac-12’s top red zone offense and the third-best passing game in the conference in 2020.
Stutzmann played receiver at Hawaii from 1998-2001, netting 177 receptions for 2,025 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Rainbow Warriors during his collegiate career.
Stutzmann then played for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League in 2002.
Stutzmann commenced his coaching career at Kalaheo High School of Honolulu, serving as the Mustangs’ offensive coordinator in 2003.
He then went to Saint Louis School of Honolulu as the assistant coach in 2004 and as the junior varsity head coach for the Crusaders from 2005-2007. During his time at Saint Louis, he coached 2014 Heisman Trophy-winning signal-caller Marcus Mariota. Mariota is presently a quarterback with the Las Vegas Raiders.
He worked his way up to the collegiate ranks in 2008 as a graduate assistant at Hawaii.
He then was the receivers coach at Portland State in 2009 and became a graduate assistant at Memphis in 2010.
He was the receivers coach at NCAA Division III Rhodes in 2011 and served at Weber State in the same capacity in 2012 and 2013.
He then served as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at NCAA Division II Emory & Henry in 2014 and 2015 before returning to Hawaii as the Rainbow Warriors’ passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach from 2016-2019.
He then served at Washington State before coming to Dixie State.
