BYU/Utah Legends Named To Big 12 Alumni Council

LAS VEGAS-Wednesday morning, the Big 12 established the first all-time Big 12 Council. It consists of two sports legends in the histories of all current Big 12 schools. For BYU and Utah, they are as follows:

BYU

Quarterback Steve Young (1981-1983). Young completed 65 percent of his passes for 7,733 yards, 56 touchdowns and 33 interceptions. Young placed second in the 1983 Heisman Trophy voting and was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1984 NFL Supplemental Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Young later became an NFL Pro Hall of Famer (Class of 2005) after starring for the San Francisco 49ers (1987-1999) after a pair of difficult seasons in Tampa Bay.

As a pro, Young completed 64 percent of his passes for 33,124 yards, 232 touchdowns and 107 interceptions. Young won three Super Bowl championships and was a 3-time All-Pro.

Women’s soccer forward Ashley Hatch (2013-2016)

Utah

Linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (2006-2009). Sylvester posted nine sacks, two interceptions and nine passes defensed during his Utes career. He was drafted No. 166 overall (5th Round) in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sylvester played for the Steelers from 2010-2013, recording 34 total tackles and two forced fumbles.

Softball  star Charmelle Green (1990-91). Green currently serves as the University of Utah’s deputy athletics director, chief operating officer and Senior Woman Administrator.
