Monday, BYU football had a big day with a couple of honors presented to the program.
Redshirt junior safety Talan Alfrey received co-Big 12 special teams player of the week honors by returning an onside kickoff 58 yards for a score in Saturday’s 30-18 win over Houston.
Additionally, BYU senior center Connor Pay was named as one of four national finalists for the 15th annual Pop Warner College Football Award.
Pay, a 6-5, 315-pound center out of Alpine, Utah and former Lone Peak High School star, was previously selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy and was named to the Rimington Trophy watchlist.
Alfrey, Pay and their teammates have concluded the regular season at 10-2 and await their postseason fate in the coming days.
