TACOMA, Wash.-Following a postponement Friday because of rain, the Salt Lake Bees and Tacoma Rainiers resumed their series Saturday with a doubleheader at Cheney Stadium. The Bees and Rainiers each took a game.
In the first game, Magneuris Sierra belted a three-run homer and the Bees routed the Rainiers 12-0. The Bees, showing no rust from Friday’s delay, recorded 16 hits in cruising to their second straight win.
Cesar Valdez earned the win on the mound for the Bees, posting six strikeouts in five innings of work.
Nick Margevicius took the loss on the mound for the Rainiers.
In the second game, Tacoma got the victory 1-0 as Mike Ford hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 7th Inning.
The Bees and Rainiers meet again Sunday for the series victory. Opening pitch is slated for 2:35 pm MDT at Cheney Stadium.
