(Salt Lake City, UT) – Utah health officials are reporting the highest single-day rise in new COVID-19 infections. State epidemiologist Leisha Nolen says yesterday’s count of 72-hundred-and-47 new cases doesn’t tell the whole story, citing people using at home tests. UDOH also reported 44 more patient deaths. Hospitalizations continue to climb, with 495 COVID-19 patients currently receiving treatment. The rise in COVID-19 cases led the Sundance Film Festival to announce yesterday the cancelation of all in-person events.
