Utah Schools To Review Book Banning Policies

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The decision to remove controversial books from Utah public schools will get a fresh review in the coming months. The Utah State Board of Education is spending 60-thousand dollars on the study. In recent months, 44 books have been banned. Some of those include the Stephen King stories that inspired the movies “Stand By Me” and “The Shawshank Redemption”. Utah allows books to be pulled off of school shelves if they’re found to be objectionable by three school districts or two school districts plus five charter schools.
