(Salt Lake City, UT) — Officials at the Utah Poison Control Center are warning teens to stay away from detergent pods.

The center says it’s seen 14 cases of poisoning related to the detergent pods so far this year.

Most of the cases happened when smaller kids swallowed the pods by accident. But a few are related to an Internet fad called the Tide Pod Challenge, where teens film themselves biting into the pods.

Doctors say the detergent in the pods is toxic and can lead to illness or death if swallowed.
