(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah is not in a drought right now, but water officials say it might be time to start preparing. As of Friday, the snowpack is at 62-percent of the median average for this time of year. Snowpack accounts for the vast majority of Utah’s water. The long-term forecast is for more dry weather until later next month. While there’s still time to make up for a poor start to winter, the possibility of a drought is increasing.
