Update On Fatal Crash West of Richfield

The Utah Highway Patrol has released more information about a fatal crash west of Richfield on May 2. In a statement they shared, “the ongoing investigation has revealed that a 2000 Hyundai Sonata was traveling East on the CC Road at a high rate of speed, running off the road and rolling onto its top. A 14-year-old male was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash. A 16-year-old male was in the passenger seat and a 15-year-old male was partially outside the sunroof videoing the drive.” The 15-year-old, later identified as Erik Nicholas Alldredge, a freshmen at Richfield High, was pinned by the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries.

Evidence of alcohol use was located at the scene of the wreck and after a thorough investigation by the UHP and the State Bureau of Investigation, in consultation with Sevier County Attorney Casey Jewkes, Carlos Reyes was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for supplying alcohol to a minor. Reyes, age 38 of Elsinore, was booked into the Sevier County Jail. In a post to their Facebook page on May 5, the Richfield city police department shared “on May 3 at about 7 pm, a 14-year-old male from Richfield who was the driver of the vehicle, was taken into custody and charged with 2nd Degree Felony manslaughter and a class A misdemeanor obstruction of justice.”
