UPDATE: Bill Over Curriculum Transparency Abandoned

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Controversial legislation requiring all public school curriculum be posted online for parents to review will not go forward this year. HB 234 from Republican Representative Jordan Teuscher would have also given parents an avenue to sue school districts if teachers did not post their materials for them. Teuscher announced Friday he would abandon the proposal. The bill faced stiff opposition from the Utah Education Association, who argued it would drive teachers out of the profession.
