The Sevier County Board of Commissioners declares Sevier County as a supporter of the Constitution of the United States and Constitution of the State of Utah

On May 14, a post was made on the Sevier County, Utah Facebook page that included a resolution of the Sevier County Board of Commissioners declaring Sevier County as a supporter of the Constitution of the United States and Constitution of the State of Utah.

In the resolution it is stated that “certain legislation that has or may be introduced in the United States Congress, and in the legislatures of several States, including the State of Utah, could have the effect of infringing on the rights of law abiding citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and Constitution of the State of Utah.”

The resolution specifically points to the First and Second Amendments to the United States Constitution as well as Article I Sections 1 and 6 of the Utah State Constitution. The commission also “reaffirm its deep commitment to the rights of all citizens of Sevier County,” and stated that they appose “any law that would unconstitutionally restrict the rights of the citizens of Sevier County.”

The Sevier County Board of Commissioners have declared Sevier county as a “Defender of the Constitution.” They also went on to state that the Commission supports the right to bear arms and opposes the use of public funds of the county to restrict the rights of the citizens of Sevier County, or to aid federal or state agencies in the restriction of rights.

The resolution was dated Mar. 11 and was signed by: Garth “Tooter” Ogden, Ralph Brown and Scott Johnson.
