(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah lawmakers are learning more about the dire situation facing the Great Salt Lake due to the ongoing drought. Lawmakers joined Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson and other state government staffers for a boat ride around the lake yesterday. Representatives from the Utah Department of Natural Resources answered questions about the lake’s shrinking water line, which is expected to drop another two feet this year. At least one state representative said after the tour that he expects the legislature to step up and do more to help now that awareness of the problem has grown.
