Record Year For Woodland And Forested Land Destruction

(Fillmore, UT) — As the Widemouth Two Fire continues to grow, the state of Utah is setting a new record. The University of Utah School of Environment, Society and Sustainability says 2026 has seen a record amount of woodland and forested land destroyed. Other years have seen more acres burned, but this is the worst year for trees and forests. Almost 290-thousand acres of forest and woodland have burned so far.
