(Salt Lake City, UT) — One of the stars of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is fighting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints over a trademark request. Heather Gay has asked for a trademark on the term “Bad Mormon,” which is the title of a book she’s written about her life. She wants to use the phrase on merchandise, but the Church has filed a challenge to her application for the trademark. They say her use of the phrase could cause harm to the reputation of the Church and its trademarks, which include the words “Mormon,” “Book of Mormon” and “Mormon.org.” Discovery in the case is ongoing and a hearing is not expected until sometime next year.
