One killed, several arrested in home-invasion shooting

VINEYARD, Utah (AP) — A person has been shot and killed during a home invasion Tuesday. Police said several others were taken into custody after the slaying at an apartment complex in Vineyard. Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon tells the Daily Herald one suspect was arrested near the scene, and up to four others were apprehended in Sandy. Their names and other details have not been released. Police have not said whether the person killed near the front doorway of the apartment was a suspect or a victim in the home invasion. Authorities are investigating the motivation for the break-in.
