(Salt Lake City, UT) — New legislation could allow Utah parents to direct the state funds designated for their child’s education to private schools. HB331 would create so-called Hope Scholarships, giving families the chance to receive financial assistance to pay for the costs, depending on their income. The Utah Education Association opposes the bill, stating that it simply renames the school voucher program that voters overturned in 2007 through a referendum.
