(Salt Lake City, UT) — As more ski resorts end this season early, nearly 70-percent of Utah is now in a severe drought. That’s the assessment of the U-S Drought Monitor. A high pressure system that was parked over much of the American West last week is making the situation much worse. Summer-like weather is accelerating snowmelt. Beaver Mountain will close today. Powder Mountain and Deer Valley are both ending their seasons on Sunday. A storm is forecast to arrive next week, and that should help the ski resorts that are still open.
