The couple from Moroni who has been accused in the death of a 2-year old girl will be held without bail for at least a week. Anyi Nicol Canales Cruz, 22, and Juan Castillo, 51, the girl’s mother and step-father, had an initial appearance before Judge Marvin Bagley on Wednesday. Both were appointed public defenders in the child abuse homicide case, and bail was denied at this time upon a request from County Attorney Kevin Daniels. He said due to the severity of the charges, he wanted them to remain in jail until they had a chance to talk with their attorneys. A bail hearing was scheduled for next Wednesday in front of Judge Mandy Larsen.
