(Provo, UT) — A jury is deliberating its verdict following closing arguments in the Jarrod Baum murder trial. Utah County Attorney Christine Scott reminded the jury yesterday of witness testimony that Baum brutally stabbed 18-year-old Riley Powell in 2017. Baum is also charged with the murder of 17-year-old Breezy Otteson. Prosecutors say Baum threw the couple’s bodies into a Eureka mine after killing them. Defense attorneys have said the eyewitness testimony is unreliable and claim another person committed the murders. Jurors discussed the case for about three hours last night and will return for more deliberation this morning.
